Feasibility of Water Injection on the Coal Wall of Loose Thick Coal Seam to Prevent Rib Spalling and Its Optimal Moisture Content

Rib spalling of loose thick coal wall seriously restricts the high yield, efficiency mine, affecting safety production mine. Based on engineering background water injection to control rib seam in Luling Coal Mine Huaibei Mining Group, mineral composition and microscopic morphology III811 were analyzed by X-ray diffraction scanning electron microscope. Through uniaxial compressive strength tests samples with different moisture content, relationship between strength, peak strain their failure characteristics was studied. The results showed that natural content mine is low, it contains a large amount kaolinite (75.2%) belonging clay which easy absorb then expand, fully bond body fill cracks improve integrity body. These two factors provide feasibility for injecting workface prevent spalling. decreased slowly raise while increased first decreased. largest when 6.0%. degree intensifies increase form changes from tensile at low shear content. Considering strain, samples, optimal determined be 4.5% ~6%.
